Jim was born in a trailer park in the Pacific Northwest. From his hard-working blue collar roots, he was able to excel in football and academics and attend Princeton University, becoming the first person in his family to attend college.

After an initial career in consulting, Jim and his wife mortgaged nearly everything they owned in 2009 to invest and become CEO of The Business Backer, and launch its mission to champion American business owners with expanded access to a much lower cost of capital. Under Jim’s direction, The Business Backer grew from five to over 100 employees and generated 30x growth in revenue, leading to an 8-figure exit to Enova International (NYSE: ENVA) in 2015.

Jim left The Business Backer / Enova in 2018 to pursue his passion: coaching CEOs to achieve elite performance, meaning and purpose in their personal, family and business lives. He also continues to champion business owners and give back as chairman and co-founder of Quanta HCM.  Quanta HCM provides superior payroll and HR software and contributes 50 percent of its profits to the nonprofits customers select.

Jim passionately dedicates time, talent and treasure to giving back. He is currently the Board Chair of EasterSeals Greater Cincinnati, executive committee and founding board member of Team Gleason, The Jewish Federation of Cincinnati and a regional leader within Entrepreneurs Organization (EO). Jim’s leadership has been recognized both locally and nationally, with awards such as the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award and The Business Courier’s Top 40 under 40.

Ben Baron, Chief Executive Officer

Utilizing a blend of technology, sales, consulting, and management experience gained from his sixteen years in the business world, Ben leads the Quanta HCM team to deliver a better HR software and payroll option for business owners and HR professionals.

After growing several smaller companies into larger ones and opening offices of an international advertising technology company in England, Germany, and Australia, Ben took a leap of faith. He left a successful career to start Quanta HCM when he saw the lack of support his friends that own businesses were receiving from big box payroll software companies. Ben wanted to help businesses take better care of their people, all while making a pledge to give back to the community.

Outside of work, Ben enjoys traveling, fitness, researching biohacking, and spending time with his family members (there are hundreds of them in OH alone).

Rich Evans, VP of Sales & Business Development

Industry Experience and Knowledge plus a Client Centric and Customer Focused sales process is what defines Rich.  Rich has been an accomplished Sales Executive, Leader and Coach in the Human Capital Management industry for more than 30 years.

He has developed and lead sales teams throughout the United States focusing on mid-market companies and industry verticals, i.e., Higher Education, Healthcare, Public Sector and Non-profits.  The “client’s needs” and “best in class service and support” are top priorities for Rich and his team.  Rich understands the importance of having strong partnerships and the roles that bankers, brokers, financial advisors, CPA’s and other Centers of Influence have with our clients and prospects.

Outside of work, Rich is an avid University of Cincinnati Bearcats fan. You can find him and his wife at all UC football home games and traveling to several away games. He loves to spend time with his friends, family & 3 granddaughters. Rich also enjoys playing golf, traveling with his wife and giving back to the community.

Ashton Swortzel, Director of Operations

Ashton is a seasoned professional with over 7 years of experience in Human Capital Management industry. With a passion for empowering teams and organizations to achieve their full potential, Ashton has a proven track record of delivering exceptional results in the areas of talent management, leadership development, and organizational effectiveness.

Ashton is committed to staying up-to-date on industry trends and best practices and is always looking to further his knowledge through obtaining industry certifications. He possess a deep understanding of payroll processes and compliance requirements, enabling him to provide clients with valuable insights and guidance. But Ashton’s expertise doesn’t stop there – he also has a talent for collaborating with clients to design customized solutions that meet their unique needs and goals.

Magda Vazquez, Sr. HR Implementation Consultant

Meet Magda Vazquez, an accomplished Senior HR Implementation Consultant with a wealth of expertise and a passion for diverse interests. Magda’s academic journey, which includes a Bachelor’s degree in Sociology, a Juris Doctor, and an MBA specializing in Human Resources, reflects her dedication to a well-rounded approach to her field.

With a proven track record spanning four years as an implementation consultant, Magda has honed her skills in optimizing HR operations and driving organizational excellence. Her remarkable achievements extend to a three-year period during which she provided invaluable HR consulting services to the Education Department in Puerto Rico. Her pivotal role in developing HR policies and streamlining recruitment processes has significantly contributed to the enhancement of the education sector.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Magda is a globetrotter at heart, finding inspiration from her travels around the world. Her culinary flair shines as she fearlessly experiments in the kitchen, crafting delightful dishes that mirror her diverse tastes. James is a seasoned Payroll Tax Filing Manager with over 27 years of experience in the Payroll Service Bureau Industry. James specializes in Amendments, Notice Resolutions, and Managing each area of the Tax Department. In addition to his lengthy Tax Filing experience, James also has a strong payroll background that allows him to assist with both payroll and tax filing issues.

In his spare time James enjoys walking his dog, playing volleyball, and relaxing at the beach with his wife and two daughters.

Kevin Carr, Customer Account Manager

Kevin is a highly experienced payroll specialist with a focus on customer service. With over 7 years of experience, he has a deep understanding of the payroll industry and is committed to providing reliable and prompt service to his clients. He has a passion for ensuring that his clients are satisfied with their payroll services and is always willing to go above and beyond to exceed their expectations.

When he’s not working, Kevin enjoys spending time with his furry companion, Niko. He’s also a bit of a pop culture buff, and can often be found binge-watching TV shows and movies or playing video games. With a good sense of humor, he likes to joke that he’s “an expert at staring at screens.”

Angelica Padrigano, Sr. TLM Implementation Consultant

Angelica is a seasoned TLM Implementation Consultant with nearly 6 years of dedicated experience in the field. Specializing in implementing TLM solutions, Advanced Schedulers, and Leave of Absence modules, Angelica brings a wealth of expertise to every project she undertakes.

With a bachelor’s degree in information technology, Angelica embarked on her journey in the realm of TLM implementation, quickly establishing herself as a reliable and proficient professional in the industry. Her hands-on experience and in-depth understanding of the TLM system enable her to navigate complex challenges with ease, ensuring seamless transitions and efficient workflows for her clients.

Fernando Perez, HR Implementation Consultant

Fernando Perez is a dynamic professional whose journey has been marked by a fusion of business acumen and legal expertise. Armed with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a major in Management, Fernando embarked on his educational journey that led him to earn a Juris Doctor, followed by an MBA with a focus on Human Resources.

Fernando’s professional trajectory has been characterized by versatility.  Since 2022, he has been making significant contributions as an Implementation Consultant, showcasing his ability to navigate complex projects with precision and efficiency. Prior to this, Fernando immersed himself in the legal landscape for over five years, leaving an indelible mark in both the public and private sectors.

His legal background not only honed his analytical and problem-solving skills but also provided him with a nuanced understanding of the intricacies within diverse organizational structures. Fernando’s tenure as an Implementation Consultant reflects his capacity to seamlessly translate legal insights into strategic implementations, thereby bridging the gap between theory and practice.

Shane Distad, Sr. Implementation Consultant

Shane Distad brings extensive expertise and a client-centered approach to his role. His career began in retail banking, where he spent 8 years quickly progressing from a teller to an Assistant Branch Manager, achieving near-perfect client feedback scores along the way.

For nearly 5 years, Shane has specialized in Payroll and TLM implementations on the UKG Ready platform, successfully managing projects for clients ranging from single-employee businesses to companies with thousands of employees. His experience spans various industries, and he has a proven track record of implementing solutions that meet diverse client needs.

Living in a small Midwest town, Shane values the kind of client relationships that are stereotypical for a small Midwest company—personal, attentive, and built on trust. He excels in understanding and assessing client requirements, providing expert recommendations, and delivering comprehensive training. His dedication to building strong, long-lasting relationships ensures that clients receive the highest level of service and support.

Outside of his professional life, Shane enjoys spending time with his family and children, exploring the outdoors, playing guitar, and staying active through exercise.
